ePub is an industry-supported digital format that does for text what JPG does for photos. There are many reading apps for ePub books, most of them free.

Kindle is a tablet created by Amazon for digital books. Kindle is also the name given to a free application that makes it possible to read Kindle books bought from Amazon on almost any mobile device or computer. For instance, if you have an iPhone, you can download the Kindle app and read almost any digital book on it. Details.
